Apple’s iOS 27 Brings Smarter, More Personal Siri AI
John

Apple has released iOS 27, introducing its redesigned Siri AI assistant ahead of the iPhone 18 launch. The new Siri is currently in beta and requires users to opt in through the Settings app, with some users potentially needing to join a waitlist.
Apple says Siri AI is designed to provide more personalized assistance by searching information stored on a user’s iPhone, including messages, emails, calendars, addresses, recipes, and instructions, while also answering general questions and searching the web. The new assistant offers a more conversational experience and can be accessed through a dedicated Siri app that keeps previous queries.
Apple is using smaller AI models that can run directly on its devices, while more complex requests can be handled through its Private Cloud Compute system. The company is also using Google’s Gemini technology to help develop its AI models. Some cloud-based Siri and Apple Intelligence features will have daily usage limits, with Apple planning to offer expanded limits for a fee in the future.
Siri AI is initially available in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support coming next month. However, the feature will not initially be available in the European Union or China due to regulatory requirements.
