Apple AirPods 5 at $129: A Deal Worth Checking Out

Apple has officially introduced the AirPods 5, its latest generation of wireless earbuds, featuring improved sound quality, enhanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and expanded AI-powered features. Announced on September 9, 2026, the new earbuds bring several upgrades to Apple's standard AirPods lineup while maintaining the familiar open-ear design.

The AirPods 5 are designed for users who want a comfortable listening experience, clearer audio, and easier access to Apple's growing ecosystem of intelligent features.

Improved Active Noise Cancellation

One of the biggest upgrades in the AirPods 5 is improved Active Noise Cancellation. Apple says the new earbuds can reduce external noise by up to 50% more than the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation. The redesigned acoustic system is intended to provide a more immersive listening experience while retaining the open-ear design.

The earbuds also feature an improved Transparency mode, allowing users to hear surrounding sounds more naturally when needed.

Enhanced Sound Quality

Apple has redesigned the acoustic architecture of the AirPods 5 to deliver richer and more detailed audio. The earbuds feature next-generation Adaptive EQ, which adjusts sound in response to how the earbuds fit and interact with the listener's ears.

Additional audio features include Personalized Spatial Audio and Adaptive Audio, which automatically balances noise cancellation and environmental sound based on the listening experience.

Smarter Siri Features and Live Translation

The AirPods 5 expand Apple's AI-powered listening experience with hands-free access to Siri AI and support for Live Translation on compatible devices. Users can interact with Siri to access information and perform tasks without needing to handle their iPhone. The earbuds also support head gestures, allowing users to respond to Siri through simple movements.

Live Translation is designed to help users communicate across languages when paired with a compatible Apple device. Availability depends on supported languages, regions, and device compatibility.

Two Models With Different Charging Options

Apple is offering the AirPods 5 in two configurations. The standard model comes with a USB-C charging case, while the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case adds wireless charging support, longer battery life, and swipe-based volume controls on the stems.

The wireless charging version also supports charging with compatible Apple Watch chargers and Qi-certified chargers.

Improved Durability

The AirPods 5 feature enhanced resistance to dust, sweat, and water, making them suitable for everyday use, workouts, and outdoor activities. The durability improvements are designed to provide additional protection during common activities, although the earbuds are not intended to be submerged in water.
