Apple Could Bring Siri AI to HomePod With a New Light Design
John

Apple appears to be preparing to bring its more capable Siri AI assistant to the HomePod, according to code findings shared by developer and code researcher pdfu.
Details discovered in HomePod Software 27 reportedly reference an internal system called “Linwood,” which is associated with Apple's next-generation Siri AI. The software also appears to include redesigned status-light behavior using colors associated with the new Siri experience.
Apple has not officially announced Siri AI for HomePod, so the feature's availability and hardware requirements remain unconfirmed.
HomePod Software 27 Contains Siri AI References
According to the code findings, HomePod Software 27 contains the Linwood system that powers Apple's new Siri AI. The software also reportedly includes a new visual and audio experience for Siri on HomePod.
The updated status lights are said to emphasize white, blue and orange, matching the color palette Apple uses for Siri AI on its other devices. The changes could give HomePod users a more visible indication when Siri is listening or responding. Apple's current HomePod Software 27 update officially adds features including Apple Music AutoMix, improved AirPlay performance, bug fixes and security updates. Siri AI, however, is not currently available on existing HomePod models.
Siri AI May Require New HomePod Hardware
One of the biggest questions is whether existing HomePod and HomePod mini models will receive the upgraded Siri. The fact that Siri AI references are present in HomePod Software 27 while the feature remains unavailable on current devices has led to speculation that new hardware could be required.
Reports have pointed to a refreshed HomePod mini with a faster processor as a potential candidate for Siri AI support. Apple is also reportedly developing an updated Apple TV 4K and other smart-home hardware capable of supporting the newer assistant.
However, Apple has not confirmed which HomePod models will support Siri AI.
What Siri AI Brings to Apple Devices
Apple officially introduced its next-generation Siri AI as a more capable and conversational assistant powered by Apple Intelligence.
The new Siri can understand personal context, work with information across apps, recognize what's displayed on a user's screen and perform more systemwide actions. Apple says Siri AI is designed to handle more natural conversations and help users complete tasks across the Apple ecosystem.
Bringing these capabilities to HomePod could make Apple's smart speaker more useful for controlling smart-home devices, answering questions and interacting with information across a user's Apple devices.
A New Look for Siri on HomePod
The reported changes aren't limited to the underlying AI system. According to the code findings, Apple is also preparing a new Siri visual experience for HomePod. The speaker's status lights could use a combination of white, blue and orange to reflect the newer Siri AI design language. That would represent a notable change from the familiar glowing Siri animation currently used on HomePod.
New HomePod Mini Could Arrive First
Rumors surrounding Apple's smart-home plans have pointed toward a new HomePod mini with upgraded internal hardware rather than a major exterior redesign.
Reports suggest the next HomePod mini could receive a faster chip and potentially newer networking and Ultra Wideband hardware. Some reports have suggested that Siri AI could work alongside a compatible iPhone in a way similar to how newer Apple Watch models rely on an iPhone for certain Apple Intelligence capabilities. These hardware details remain unconfirmed by Apple.
When Could Siri AI Arrive on HomePod?
There is currently no official HomePod Siri AI release date. Reports suggest that Apple's next wave of smart-home products, including a refreshed HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K, could arrive as soon as October. The timing has not been confirmed by Apple.
For now, the discovery of Linwood in HomePod Software 27 provides evidence that Apple is preparing the software infrastructure for Siri AI on its smart-home devices, but it does not confirm that existing HomePods will receive the feature.
