Apple Could Unveil Its New Smart Home Hub on October 13
John

Apple could soon make its long-awaited entry into the smart home display market. According to a recent Bloomberg report, Apple is planning to introduce a new smart home hub on October 13, 2026, alongside refreshed versions of the HomePod mini and Apple TV.
The reported launch would mark Apple's first major dedicated smart home display and could become an important part of its broader Siri AI strategy.
New Smart Home Hub at the Center
The device, reportedly code-named J490 and often referred to as the “HomePad,” is expected to feature a square touchscreen measuring around 6 inches. Reports indicate that Apple is developing both a tabletop version and a wall-mounted model.
The tabletop model is said to have a design inspired by the iconic iMac G4, with the display attached to a metal arm above a rounded speaker base. The screen could tilt to provide a more comfortable viewing angle.
Unlike an iPad, the hub reportedly will not include a battery and will need to remain connected to power. It is expected to function as a dedicated home device rather than a portable tablet.
Siri AI Could Be the Main Feature
Siri AI is expected to play a central role in the new device. The hub could allow users to control smart home accessories, access apps, play music, make FaceTime calls, view photos, and communicate with other household members.
Reports also suggest the device could recognize different members of a household through voice and facial recognition. That would allow it to provide personalized widgets, calendars, music recommendations, and other content depending on who is using it. Apple is reportedly developing a new software experience specifically for the home hub, combining elements of Apple's existing interfaces with a Siri-centered approach.
HomePod mini and Apple TV Could Join the Launch
Apple's reported October 13 lineup is not expected to stop with the new hub. The company could also introduce a refreshed HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K. The HomePod mini is reportedly set to retain its existing design while receiving a faster chip, Siri AI support, and additional color options.
The Apple TV is also expected to maintain a familiar design while gaining newer hardware designed to support Apple's latest AI features. The launch would give Apple three connected home products designed around a more capable Siri experience.
Apple’s Bigger Smart Home Plans
The reported October launch could be just the beginning of Apple's smart home ambitions. Bloomberg reports that Apple is also working on broader HomeKit improvements and additional smart home products.
A future high-end version of the hub is reportedly being developed with a larger display mounted on a robotic arm. Apple is also said to be exploring a privacy-focused home security camera and sensor.
For now, however, Apple has not officially announced the October 13 launch or confirmed the reported specifications. The date and product details remain based on reports, primarily from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
If the reports are accurate, October 13 could mark the beginning of Apple's new smart home push, with Siri AI serving as the central technology connecting the company's latest home devices.
