Apple Reportedly Planned a Smaller Pencil for the iPhone Duo

Apple reportedly considered launching a shorter version of the Apple Pencil alongside the iPhone Duo, but the accessory was ultimately canceled because of technical issues discovered before mass production.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple had been developing the smaller Apple Pencil specifically for the iPhone Duo. However, the company reportedly abandoned the project after encountering technical problems ahead of production.

Instead, Apple is expected to add support for the existing USB-C Apple Pencil to the iPhone Duo later this year, according to reports. The move would give iPhone Duo owners access to Apple Pencil functionality without requiring Apple to introduce a new, smaller stylus.

Apple has not publicly confirmed the reported cancellation of the shorter Apple Pencil. More details could emerge as the company expands Apple Pencil support across its devices.
