Apple has teamed up with The King’s Trust to launch a new program designed to help young people develop creative and digital skills and explore careers in the creative industries.

The Apple x King’s Trust Creative Labs officially launched this week at Apple’s U.K. headquarters at Battersea Power Station in London. Apple Executive Chairman Tim Cook and King Charles III met with the program’s first group of participants, while music icon Elton John joined them at Apple Music Hall for a special performance and soundcheck.

Apple and The King’s Trust Launch Creative Labs

The new Creative Labs program is focused on giving young people hands-on experience with technology and creative industries. According to Apple, the first cohort includes up to 20 young people between the ages of 18 and 30. Participants will take part in specialized workshops designed to teach industry-aligned skills using Apple technology while allowing them to explore different career pathways.

The first workshops began this week and are focused on music and other creative fields, coinciding with the opening of Apple Music Hall at Battersea Power Station. Apple says additional workshops and new cohorts are planned throughout the next year.

Tim Cook and King Charles Meet Young Creatives

King Charles visited Apple's Battersea headquarters on October 7 to meet participants in the first Creative Labs program. During the visit, the King toured a music creation workshop and spoke with young people taking part in the program. He later joined Elton John and Tim Cook at Apple Music Hall, where they watched a soundcheck and a performance by singer-songwriter Skye Newman.

The appearance highlights the long-running relationship between Apple and The King’s Trust, as well as the organizations' shared focus on education, technology and opportunities for young people.

Elton John Joins the Launch

Elton John also played a prominent role in the launch. The musician, who is a longtime supporter of The King’s Trust and Apple Music, joined King Charles and Tim Cook at Apple Music Hall. The group watched young performers and participants involved in the new creative program.

The event also showcased the newly opened Apple Music Hall inside Battersea Power Station, where Apple's creative and educational activities can connect technology with music and other forms of creative expression.

Building Skills for Creative Careers

Apple says the Creative Labs initiative will give participants access to Apple experts, technology, resources and mentorship. The goal is not simply to teach participants how to use Apple products. Instead, the program is designed to help young people develop practical skills, confidence and industry knowledge that could support their transition into employment.

Apple's senior director of Global Community Impact, Alisha Johnson Wilder, said the company believes education can be a powerful tool for creating greater opportunity and that the new program will connect young creators and innovators with Apple's expertise and technology.

Apple and The King’s Trust Have Worked Together Since 2019

The Creative Labs initiative builds on an existing partnership between Apple and The King’s Trust. Apple has supported The King’s Trust since 2019, helping expand STEAM-focused educational programs to schools throughout the U.K. through the Achieve program.

The organizations have also worked together on programs that give young people access to Apple technology and learning resources. Apple says it is now also working with The King’s Trust to develop resources focused on AI literacy, creativity and agency for educators and young people.

A Significant Year for The King’s Trust

The launch comes during the 50th anniversary year of The King’s Trust. The organization was founded by King Charles, then the Prince of Wales, in 1976. Apple says The King’s Trust has supported 1.3 million young people across the U.K. over the past five decades, helping them develop life skills, prepare for employment, access job opportunities and launch businesses.

The new Creative Labs program expands that mission into creative technology and gives participants the opportunity to learn directly from professionals working in the industry.

Apple Continues Its Focus on Education

The Creative Labs launch is another example of Apple's broader investment in educational programs. The company has programs designed to teach coding, creativity and technology skills to students and educators around the world. The new partnership with The King’s Trust adds a stronger focus on creative careers, including music and digital content.

For Apple, the initiative also provides another opportunity to demonstrate how its hardware and software can be used as professional creative tools.

The Bigger Picture

The Apple x King’s Trust Creative Labs program shows how Apple is expanding its relationship with education beyond traditional coding and technology programs. By combining Apple's technology and industry expertise with The King’s Trust's experience supporting young people, the initiative aims to give participants practical skills they can use as they pursue careers.

With more workshops and cohorts expected over the next year, the October launch at Battersea Power Station could be the beginning of a much larger creative education program across the U.K. For Apple, The King’s Trust and the young people taking part, the focus is ultimately on turning access to technology into real-world skills, confidence and career opportunities.
