iPhone Duo Leak Reveals 5 New StandBy Faces Apple Hasn't Announced

Apple's upcoming iPhone Duo may have more StandBy options than the company has shown publicly. A new leak has revealed five previously unannounced StandBy faces for the foldable iPhone, offering a closer look at how Apple could expand the feature beyond the designs shown during its September announcement.

The information comes from leaker pdfu, who examined Apple's software and was able to run several of the newly discovered designs in the current renderer. The findings were also reported by 9to5Mac.

Five New StandBy Faces

The leaked designs include:

  • Home Camera — Could display a single camera feed or a grid containing up to nine camera feeds.

  • Home Modular — Appears designed around smart-home controls.

  • Flow — May feature animated or responsive visual effects.

  • Fade — Little is currently known about this design.

  • Snoopy — A character-based design featuring Apple's popular Snoopy theme.

The Home Camera option could be particularly interesting for users with compatible smart-home cameras, potentially turning the iPhone Duo into a convenient monitoring display when positioned on a desk or countertop.

StandBy Will Work Without Charging

One of the more notable changes coming to the iPhone Duo is its expanded StandBy functionality. Unlike existing iPhone StandBy, the iPhone Duo's version can reportedly activate even when the device isn't connected to a charger. Apple has already shown the feature in promotional materials for the foldable iPhone.

The Duo's foldable design could make this especially useful because the device can be positioned in different configurations, allowing the display to function more like a small information hub.

More StandBy Options Are Already Known

The five newly discovered faces join several designs Apple has already shown or previously revealed.

Those include:

  • Analog

  • Digital

  • Classic Calendar

  • Weather

  • Photos

  • Memories

  • Shared Albums

  • Modular

Apple also appears to be developing a dedicated customization experience for StandBy. Users could adjust styles and colors, while swipe gestures may provide a quick way to change the appearance.

Five Widget Layouts

The leak also points to five widget layouts for clock faces that support widgets. The layouts reportedly include: StandBy, Stacked, Top, Middle, and Bottom. This could give iPhone Duo owners more control over how information is displayed while the device is sitting in StandBy mode.

iPhone Duo Launch Date

The iPhone Duo is scheduled to launch on October 23, 2026, with pre-orders beginning October 16. Apple is expected to make the device available in the United States and more than 70 other countries and regions at launch.

The iPhone Duo will reportedly start at $1,999 in the United States for the 256GB model, with storage options extending up to 2TB.

What This Means for iPhone Duo

The latest leak suggests Apple is positioning StandBy as more than a simple clock or charging-screen feature on the iPhone Duo. With smart-home camera feeds, customizable widgets, animated designs and themed faces, StandBy could become one of the more distinctive software features of Apple's first foldable iPhone.

However, these additional designs have not been officially announced by Apple, so some details could change before the iPhone Duo launches. With the October 23 release date approaching, more information about the iPhone Duo and iOS 27.1 is likely to emerge soon.
